Kannada.indiainfo.com editor gets US award


Bangalore: S K Shama Sundara, the Editor of http://kannada.indiainfo.com, an affiliate of http://www.indiainfo.com has been honoured by Kaveri Kannada Association, one of the oldest Kannada Associations in Washington D C Metro for successfully popularising the Kannada language through the Web.

"Mr Sham has been very successful in creating the most popular Kannada Web page at http://kannada.indiainfo.com through his rich Kannada language and knowledgeable articles. Mr Sham's services to Kaveri in obliging while publishing all the announcements and reports is highly appreciable," an official e-mail from the Kaveri Executive Committee 2001 said.

"On behalf of the Kannada community in Washington D C Metro area, Kaveri congratulates the award winner and likes to say that we at "Kaveri Kannada Association" are very proud of you," the e-mail added.

The other awardees were Kannadigas resident in Washington D C Metro. Shama Sundara gets the distinction of being the first Karnataka media personnel outside of the US to get the recognition.

The other awardees, who are residents in Washington D C Metro, are Sandesh Srinivas, Nanda Sreekantaiah, Shanmughanathan Pattu, Ken Venkatesh, Rajashekar Doddanna, Dr K L Vasanth and Sreekantaiah Tavarakere.

"This is a recognition to vernacular journalism on the Net. Kannada.indiainfo.com’s concerted efforts to create a bridge between 'home' and 'home away from home' of non- resident Kannadigas has been aptly appreciated and rewarded," Shama Sundara said.
