1. What is the objective of 'Write for Indiainfo'?
Indiainfo strongly believes in the power of the Internet to act as an interactive medium where everyone can contribute. "Write for Indiainfo" encourages voluntary contributions from users all over the world, across Indiainfo channels and its affiliates.

2. Which sections can I contribute for?
You can contribute to the following sections:

Indiainfo channels
Public Opinion: Your views and opinion on contemporary issues ranging from current affairs, business and economy to politics and entertainment.
Write for Public Opinion

Movies:Your chance to share the lowdown on movie reviews, star profiles, movie bloopers and more.
Write for Movies

Travel: Share your travel experiences and tips with other globetrotters!

3. How do I send my contribution to Indiainfo?

You have three options.
  1. Paste your article directly in to the Write For form on the respective channels or affiliates.
  2. Send your story in MS Word as an attachment to the email IDs specified in the Write For form on the respective channels or affiliates.
  3. Snail mail your article to:

Note: Please specify the channel and section for which the contribution is being sent

4. Can I send pictures with my story?
Yes, you can. Send the pictures as attachments and not in MS Word. We would ideally like to have the images in jpeg. Or gif. format with suitable captions for the same.

5. Do I need to send in my profile or bio?
Yes, It would be ideal if you could send in a 30-word bio along with your email ID. If you don't want us to use your real name, you can write under a pseudonym. Don't forget to mention the name you wish to write in.

You could also send us your photograph. (Kindly avoid group photos)

Note: On an article to article basis you can advise us, if you want your name and photo to appear or not. Should you want to voice your feelings on some issue (say controversial) and want your identity concealed, all you need to do is specify the same.

6. What should my profile look like?
Rena Andrews: An amateur photographer, Rena travels across the world capturing the richness of diverse cultures. A mother of two, Rena is currently based in Goa.

Siddant: Siddant works for a multinational based in New Delhi. When he's not globetrotting, he likes to 'voice' his opinion on issues that interest him.

7. What is the selection process and how will I know whether my article is accepted or not?
The editorial committee reviews each user contribution. Once approved, you will be informed through email. The committee reserves the right to accept, decline and edit your article.

8. Can I send you an article of mine that has already been published?
It is advisable that you send us articles that are unique to us and have not appeared in other publications.

9. Will I receive feedback?
You will get to interact one on one with people who have read your article and have something to say. This is subject to approval from your end.

10. Contribution guidelines
Writing for the Web is different from writing for print or television. Here are some tips and guidelines for making your article user friendly.

  • Content must be unique and simple.
  • Article should be well thought of with 2- 4 key messages in an article.
  • Word limitation 400 - 600 word.
  • Sentences should be short and crisp.
  • Suggest a title for your piece.
  • Break into paragraphs.
  • Avoid hype and cliché in the content.
  • Make content transparently credible.
  • Do not mince words or give elaborate intro.
  • Articles should be simple and honest.
  • Attribute source wherever applicable.
  • You can send in pictures for your story.
  • Use active voice while writing.
  • Content should be concise, free of spelling and grammar errors.
  • Make sure facts and figures are right. Pilfering of content from other publications is not allowed. The editorial committee will reject such contributions.

Please visit the channel or affilaite of your choice and get the feel of each of the sections in terms of treatment, style and flow.

However users can experiment with different styles of writing. The editorial committee will have the final say in the matter.
